About Us

Our Location...

This location has tremendous historical value.  In 1912, the Town of Lakeville accepted an offer of $5,000 from Andrew Carnegie and a lot of land from the Washburn Estate, to erect a building to be used as a library.  This building opened as the town library on August 26, 1914 and continued to be until July 22, 2005 when the doors were closed so the new Lakeville Public Library could be opened on August 23, 2005.

Part of our vision at Somethin’s Brewin’ Book Café is to partner with the Town of Lakeville and the Lakeville Historical Commission to preserve the historical essence of this beautiful building.  This town is also rich in history, and we would like to get involved in helping to remember this history to the folks who reside here today.  For starters, the portrait of Andrew Carnegie, which has always been displayed in this building, will continue to grace the walls of the coffeehouse.
